First, let me apologize for the lack of pictures with this post. I’m behind on getting the pictures and getting them uploaded. We have a lot going on both at the house and away. That coupled with it being summer has filled our days and nights to capacity.

Let me start with the gardens. Right now we have lots growing and looking good (I promise I will get pictures soon) and there are some things that just aren’t doing well. Some of the hearty plants are green beans, potatoes, tomatoes, and corn. Then there are some we’re unsure of at the moment such as carrots, lettuce (although black something or another is doing well) cabbage, and broccoli. Then the peas which were doing good have died suddenly. Not sure what happened there.

Moving forward I think it might be in our best interest to increase the amount of green beans, tomatoes, potatoes, and corn and get rid of everything else. Then we can take the excess and sell it / trade it at the local farmers market for the other vegies we want without killing ourselves to try and grow something that just doesn’t want to grow. We’ll see after we harvest this season.

The chicken coop is still on hold. I plan to complete the roof shortly after the first, then I still have my other additions such as windows and the roost. I don’t think we’re going to be ready for hens any time soon, but you never know.

Now, it hasn’t been all work and no play. We’ve been boating a lot and hiking as well. I have my Jeep torn apart in the garage working on an axle swap so we can start enjoying it again. I have to admit that we’re not getting as much done as we normally would because of the playing, but we’re doing okay I think. If it’s all work and no play then I don’t want anything to do with it!

Well, that’s about it for now. I’ll be updating soon with pictures. Until then, have fun!!!
