It’s been a busy time around the house. We’ve been planting at a pretty steady rate. We’ve moved from one 10′ x 13′ garden to three at this point. It looks like by the time we’re done we’re going to need 5 or 6 to cover all we want to plant. We’re actually seeing some good growth this season as well. I guess there’s something to be said about planting at the right time.
Moving forward we have a lot of plans and it’s going to take the effort of everyone here to achieve them. We want to start raising chickens so a coop is in order. It won’t be a huge undertaking, just time consuming. With the kids playing their sports and my assistant coaching one of the teams, time is limited. On top of that I want to add goats to the mix. I’m not sure how, if, or when that might come in to play, but it’s something I’d definitely like to see.
Now, some of you might know, my tractor is broken along side of my lawn tractor. This is not good. We can’t mow, brush hog, or do much of anything without it. We’ve been turning the gardens by hand, which really is a good thing, but the yard is being taken over by weeds. All is not lost though. We have the lawn tractor in the shop and a call into the mechanic to look at the main tractor. The only problem that I can see with the tractor is that the PTO won’t lift the implements. There are a number of reasons why this might not work, but I don’t know the first thing about it, so this I’m going to leave to the professionals.
Well, I’m going to get back to work. I hope to have some pictures and futher updates soon.
