Gran Torino next

We haven’t posted about a movie in a while, but I had to say something about Gran Torino. We picked this up yesterday not quite sure what to expect from it. It’s Clint Eastwood, so it’s pretty much a given that I’ll enjoy it, but Adrienne is hit or miss since she’s not big into the westerns or dirty Harry flicks like I am. As we got into it I kept thinking, “is he really using all these racial slurs”. Sure enough, just about every other sentance from him was a derogatory comment about someone else. Now, don’t get me wrong, I laughed guite a bit, and I thought that his dedication to targeting everyone was awesome. When you throw in the relationship he ended up nutruring with his neighbors and the interaction with the church you had a tragic comedy that could rival shakespear. While I don’t typically find the use of race in comedy a good thing, the back story of him being in Korea and his age made it ironically acceptible.
